I'm a bit stuck with this one, honestly.
I've got a Rega Planar 3, and recently got a pair of Ruark MR1 Mk3s. The intention is to have both the TV and the turntable plugged into the Ruarks, with the speakers either side of the TV and the turntable on the unit next to me. The Ruarks have an optical input and a Phono input and the space is only ~2m long, so you'd think this would be fine.
However, the cable comes out of the right hand side of the turntable. This means that no matter where I put it, it's just not long enough to reach the speaker. Easy fix, just use a separate phono stage and plug it into the line in. Again though no dice - The optical in and line in on the ruarks are a combination jack so I can only do one at a time. I can't use some sort of external switcher either due to one of them being optical.
And so, I'm a bit stuck. Reading about extending the phono cable the consistent answer is "Don't", but I don't see any other real option. I've had a look around for low capacitance phono extension cables, but honestly I'm having a nightmare finding any in the UK. These seem to be the closest to what I need, but they're not available and the connectors are probably too long for the space behind the speaker.
Any suggestions? I'm really stuck here and I'd rather not throw stupid money after a metre long cable.
