Ma'chello wanted to continue living because he felt entitled to such and didn't mind taking another's life for it.

At first I was thinking, why didn't they just offer him the body of a deathrow inmate.

Then I remembered the Tok'ra a couple episodes previously. They always need a host. Even if just for a few more years for both parties, it would've benefited all involved.

Everyone would've benefited from Ma'chello's knowledge and genius.

I guess the writers didn't think about that, in hindsight.

What do you guys think on the matter?
