Hi all first time posting here, so yesterday I part exchanged my Mazda 3 for a car which I’ve been wanting since I was 18. My old car was under finance and had a settlement figure of £2.5k and the car I bought was £2995 they valued my car at £2k and I had to pay just over £1.4 on top of my settlement to get the car I was purchasing from the dealer. The dealership is in Ripley (Yorkshire uk)

I have since gotten all documents regarding the car I bought, changed insurance, taxed etc and have relinquished the keys etc to my old vehicle as well as the VC5 ownership book with the dealer.

This morning I received a phone call from the dealership saying that I owe £2k on top due to their fault of not tallying up the price of the vehicle and doing something wrong with the figures. I just want to know where I stand and what power do they have to claim this money from me if it was their mistake as well as check if this was something that they did wrong or if they are just trying to swindle some more money out of me even after I purchased the car with part ex?
