Updates to watch design - bezel and strap

Hi r/MicrobrandWatches!

We're continuing to refine our first model platform based on your feedback. Here's where things stand:

Case

  • The midcase has been updated with more aggressive, faceted crown guards, along with a matching protective flank on the opposite side to balance the design.
  • The midcase is now built as a modular platform. The same base will underpin multiple variants for different use cases, with the first iterations being a diver with an aggressive unidirectional bezel and flat crystal, and a dress watch with a fixed architectural bezel and domed crystal.

Straps & Bracelets

  • The diver will be paired with an angular, chain-link style bracelet with a bold, mechanical character.
  • The dress variant will feature a more fluid, elegant bracelet to complement its refined aesthetic.
  • We've also developed a first approach to a custom leather strap — geometry and details still being refined.

What's Next

  • Dial design is still to be refined, so stay tuned. In the meantime, we'd love to hear your thoughts on everything shown here.

Thanks again for all the support! Your feedback has been invaluable in shaping this project.

Cheers,

Hi everyone,

I posted here a couple of weeks ago asking for feedback on my original watch design, and a lot of you pointed out that the case felt a bit stubby / unbalanced on the wrist.

We took your feedback into account and made a few key changes:

- Refined the case geometry to improve proportions and comfort by increasing lug size and drop angle

- Developed an integrated y-link bracelet with monolithic links

- Replaced the fixed placeholder bezel with an aggressive, rotating bezel as this model is a diver

Current specs:

- Miyota 9039 (no-date)

- 39mm case diameter

- 45mm lug-to-lug

- 12mm thickness

- 200m water resistance

I’d really appreciate your thoughts on whether these changes improved the overall design, or if anything still feels off.

- Case geometry - does the case still feel “stubby,” or is it more balanced now?

- How does the bracelet integration come across?

- Does the bezel feel like a natural addition, or does it clash with the case?

- Is a circular crown sufficient or is it worth it to make a unique 12-sided crown that matches the bezel shape? I am considering that direction.

- What do you think of the dial direction? We came up with this design based on the coffered ceilings found inside the Wawel Castle. We are still working on refining details such as the size of the indices.

I'm happy to share more angles or close-ups if helpful. Thanks again for all the input so far, it’s been genuinely useful!

Thanks so much

Michal
