Update for Calibre folks using justRead: Readwise sync in 2.6

Hello reddit folks, back again with a new update (video included).

For anyone new: justRead.app is the iOS reader I've been building that points straight at a Calibre library and reads EPUBs in place. Or you can use two-way Calibre sync (meaning not only reading data from calibre, but also saving back... your reading progress, for example).

This update, 2.6 is all about Readwise sync:

  1. Get Readwise API key
  2. Insert it into Readwise settings
  3. Sync all highlights (or, while reading a book, just the highlight from a specific book)
  4. Done, all highlights are in Readwise

I am posting here again, because most of you read across desktop Calibre and mobile, and Readwise is how a lot of folks keep their highlights useful long-term. And I do not want to keep those highlights just inside the app.
There is already export to *.pdf and *.md format, but Readwise is an option many people use, so it was added.

The video shows a simple example of settings the API key, syncing to Readwise and showing it on Readwise webpage.

justRead.app 2.5 released: new daily/weekly/monthly/yearly reading statistics (iOS)

Hello everyone, author of justRead.app here.
Just shipped version 2.5 to the App Store and wanted to share the main new feature, since reading stats seem to come up a lot in feedback from users.

The statistics view has been completely updated (inspired by margins.app). As an addition to existing statistics, you can now see your reading broken down across different intervals:

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Yearly

This stats also works with books imported from Calibre and not read in justRead.app (using metadata imported from Calibre, like read status and read date)

Short demo video showing how it works atached.

If you have any questions about the app, the new stats, or how it fits alongside a Calibre-managed library, please feel free to ask.

Hey r/calibre, dev of justRead.app here.

Quick heads-up for anyone using justRead iOS alongside a Calibre Content Server.

The 2.4.1 update adds two-way sync for five fields between your Calibre library and the app:

  • Star rating
  • Reading progress (%)
  • Finished / read flag
  • Finished date
  • Want-to-read flag

Previously the app could only push your reading state into Calibre. Now it also pulls, so if you rate a book on the desktop, mark it read, or set a "want to read" flag in a Calibre custom column, justRead picks it up on the next refresh and overwrites its local value.
No Calibre plugin required, just the standard Content Server.

Happy to answer questions or take feature requests if anyone wants tighter Calibre integration.

Hey r/calibre, dev of justRead.app here.

Just shipped 2.4 with what's been our most-requested feature: pushing data back to Calibre, not just pulling from it.

Calibre showing which custom columns are synced back from the app

So now justRead can...
- Connects to your Calibre Content Server (same as before)
- Adds a "Send to Calibre" action that writes reading progress, status (reading / finished), and other fields back to your Calibre library (see screenshot)
- Lets you map each field to any Calibre custom column you've set up (#read_status, #progress, #last_read, whatever your schema is)

So if you're like me you've been using Calibre as the 'source of truth' but reading state has lived stranded on the phone. Now your library actually reflects what you've read and where you are.

Happy to answer questions about the mapping setup or how it handles edge cases (offline pushes, conflicts, etc).
