Let's talk about Advertising

One thing we have noticed is that there's an underlying dislike of folks advertising products and patterns in this sub.

We would like to formalise our response to them as moderators and are seeking feedback from the community.

Since the primary purpose of this sub is to support leather workers, we feel that all physical objects should be directed to r/leatherclassifieds and not be posted in this sub.

Likewise we believe that patterns are directly beneficial to other leather workers and pattern makers should be allowed to advertise their patterns here, as long as they showcase a physical product made from that pattern.

So we put these choices to you all:

* No advertising at all

* Patterns only

* Advertising free-for-all

So this is us, saying hello!

We're currently looking at expanding the sub rules to clarify what to post and how we want to direct this community, please chime in below with any suggestions you would like us to consider while we do that.

For now, business as usual, respect one another and default to kindness when interacting with each other.

I've turned on the ability to add pictures to comments since we think it will help folks when they are explaining different techniques to each other. Let us know what you think!

I love making this style of bag detailed in Armitage's Leathercraft book. Using his instructions I made it a bit bigger than the measurements he uses in the book and added D-rings to the sides so it can be worn as an over-the-shoulder bag.

The body is 6 oz natural veg tan from a belly cut, hot stuffed with a blend of beeswax and golden mink o-l. The flap is Western crunch leather from Weaver.

This one is going to one of my daughter's classmates, I think I make another one for myself and add edge banding around the flap.
