After 9 years, I finally retired my 2017 MacBook Pro for the M5
I’ve been clutching my 2017 MacBook Pro like a security blanket for nine years. Yes, nine. It still worked (mostly), so I kept telling myself “eh, not yet.” The battery had been replaced twice, the fans would spin up like a jet engine. But hey, it worked. Then I finally caved and got the M5 MacBook Pro. I genuinely don’t know how to process this.
Honestly the hardest part was letting go. That 2017 machine carried me through a lot. But wow, nine years is a long time in Apple Silicon years. It feels like going from a horse to a Ferrari.
