When Tom Dundon bought my Carolina Hurricanes nearly a decade ago I was quite concerned that a guy who knew nothing about Hockey or the sports world in general was taking over. Once he did take over, the stories started pouring in for months. He's unbelievably cheap. He doesn't want to pay a coach. He doesn't want to pay for travel or physical therapists. He's stripping the team down so he can tank and relocate them. Basically everything you're hearing right now. That wasn't what anyone in our fan base wanted to hear after a decade of pain and suffering.

Lucky for me, and now you.....it's all bullshit. From day one he came in, hired some of the brightest analytical minds in hockey to run the front office and promoted an old school coach that won the locker room over immediately. He hired his guys, said spend to the cap ceiling every year and got the hell out of their way. Tom Dundon only cares about winning no matter what it costs financially and he's proven that every single year. After a decade of sadness and pain, under his ownership we've at a minimum made it past the first round every single year.

Agree with me or not, I'm the kinda guy that thinks all billionaires are scummy, him included, but Tom Dundon the sports owner? That's a dude you want owning your team. In the past it was easy to shit on a guy when he's never even owned a team before, but I'm very surprised to see these same narratives being pushed a decade later after how much respect he's garnered in the NHL.

Best of luck to ya, friends.
