I am done with this. I get it, Harry Potter taught you morals, you loved Harry Potter as a child, Harry Potter made you love reading, etc.

And guess what, I’m glad that you had that experience. I’m happy for you, genuinely. I liked Harry Potter as a child; it was a good time. Glad you enjoyed the books!

But dear God, I do not need to hear another hackneyed explanation about “death of the author” or “separating the art from the artist” where you justify buying more Harry Potter shit, or where you complain about how the series is overhated, or how it’s actually MORE racist to point out how the goblins resemble antisemitic stereotypes then it is to write the goblins that way in the first place.

I do not care. You are allowed to like Harry Potter. It is a perfectly cromulent children’s series. I do not begrudge you that.

But for the love of everything, you are not the victim here. And don’t buy Harry Potter shit. If you are deep enough in the trenches to be posting on here about the topic, then you have to at least on a surface level know where the Harry Potter money is going. JK Rowling has been like this for the better part of a decade. You are online enough to know at this point.

I do not care for your explanations and justifications, and don’t act like you’re some minority opinion. There is a Harry Potter theme park that makes a fuck ton of money, and the Harry Potter video game, in spite of all the calls for people to mildly inconvenience themselves just this once as a show of solidarity, sold a fuck ton of copies. You win. As far as the wider culture is concerned, buying Harry Potter shit and funding JK Rowling’s transphobia is fine. You are in the majority.

There, that’s my rant. If any of you people come in here and feel the need to pull out any of the justifications I touched on here, I will block you and then throw out another piece of my old Harry Potter merch. Don’t test me on that.

EDIT: Y'all have come up with 1 (one) new argument. This is why I'm tired of this shit. I'm not convincing any of y'all, and none of y'all are convincing me. We've all heard everything already. What is the point to any of this? It's just more of the same old bullshit. I'm turning off notifications.
