I knew something odd was going on with my flashes and batteries so I tested with my flash meter.

Rechargeable batteries at full charge gave 1 to 2/3 stops more exposure than very drained rechargeable batteries consistently over the whole power range.

Brand new single use batteries fell in the middle and were about 1/3 to 1/2 stop dimmer than fully charged batteries and 1/3 to 1/2 stop brighter than exhausted rechargable ones.

What's going on with this? I thought all batteries just charge up the capacitor until it's got the right charge to fire
