Trump Showed a Mock-up of the New 100-Dollar Banknote with His Signature

On Friday, the US President published an image of the new 100-dollar banknote with his signature. This happened several months after the US Treasury Department announced such plans.

Back in March, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the administration plans to place Trump's signature on American paper money for the first time in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, writes RBC-Ukraine.

On the night of July 4, Trump personally showed what this banknote would look like. In the image, the US leader's signature is placed above Bessent's signature.

Previously, the 100-dollar banknote only bore the signatures of the Treasury Secretary and the US Treasurer, but not the incumbent president. Thus, this is happening for the first time under Trump.

"The President's contribution to history as the architect of America's economic resurgence in the Golden Age is undeniable. Placing his signature on American money is not only appropriate but entirely deserved," Bessent said in March.

CNN journalists contacted the US Treasury Department with a question about whether such banknotes are already being printed.

Sudan central bank to withdraw small banknotes as inflation bites

1 Min

July 4, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – The Central Bank of Sudan on Saturday announced it will withdraw small currency denominations from circulation, giving holders a three-month deadline to deposit the banknotes into commercial bank accounts.

The measure targets the 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50-pound notes, which have effectively lost their purchasing power amid soaring inflation and a sharp depreciation of the Sudanese pound.

The formal notice was published in the official gazette on April 30, meaning the grace period for the affected banknotes will expire at the close of business on July 30, 2026.

Behind the Wall – Australian Note and Stamp Printing Department - Australia

Have you ever walked or driven past the high brick wall on the corner of Victoria Parade and Young Street, Fitzroy, and wondered what’s behind it? Now part of the Australian Catholic University, this building was once the Commonwealth Note and Stamp Printing Department. Every Australian stamp and banknote was printed here from 1924-81.

The Commonwealth Note and Stamp Printing Department was the first purpose-built facility for printing notes and stamps in Melbourne. Designed with world-class security, spikes topped the perimeter wall and steel bars covered each window. A large vault for storing banknotes and stamps and strong rooms kept the valuable products safe from burglary and fire.

Inside, the department was a hum of activity. A reporter in 1951 described the building trembling ‘to the sound of 30 printing presses’ all operating at once. Each press could print an incredible £360,000 worth of £10 notes per hour! It was a place of creativity, too. Pioneering designers and engravers, including Betty Temple Watts, Eileen Mayo, Frank Davis Manley and RA Harrison, all developed iconic Australian stamps here.

Today, the building is still lively but much more welcoming to the community as part of the Australian Catholic University’s Mary Glowrey Building.

Attempt to Smuggle Antique Banknotes From Belarus to Poland Thwarted

The driver of a Fiat car attempted to secretly take 28 antique banknotes out of Belarus without declaring them to customs.

The driver was leaving for Poland through the Berastavitsa border checkpoint. He chose the red channel and submitted a passenger customs declaration to complete the temporary import procedure for the vehicle. The man told customs officers that he had nothing else to declare.

During an inspection of his personal belongings, customs officers discovered the antique banknotes. An expert examination established that the banknotes had been produced more than 100 years ago and are classified as cultural property, the State Customs Committee said.

Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the man.

Danes’ use of cash continues to decline - Danmark

The use of cash in society is changing. Fewer payments are made using cash, and most citizens prefer to pay by card or mobile phone. Despite this, an increasing number of citizens have cash holdings. This is primarily because more people see cash as an important supplement in situations where physical payment cards or mobile payments do not work, which is in line with Danmarks Nationalbank’s recommendations to citizens.
