The Boiled One
I had a different type of counter in mind but then I learned [[Fear of Sleep Paralysis]] exists and decided to lean more into stun counters.

Wanted to limit myself to a secret lair so I wouldn’t go too nuts, lol.
I feel like Scout launcher could get a little nuts, but it’s fun so I’ll let it be.
I’m pleased that the Hearthians actually do seem like merfolk so I can flavorfuly synergize it with things like [[Hakbal]]
Been rewatching the Matrix movies with my partner and i forgot how much I really enjoyed the weird direction they went with Smith. Made this card as something of a meld between [[Weeping Angel]] and [[Cyber Conversion]]
I admit some of the numbers could maybe use an adjustment, but I think the core functions are fun. With linger I was trying to make a keyword that kept tokens alive without just being regenerate again.
Also shout out to Piotr Jabłoński for making some god-tier grungy fantasy art.
Feel like some of the numbers could be tweaked a bit
“Collect my pages” <-do not touch his goddamn pages
I enjoy doing urban-legendy ones, haha. Debated between giving him shadow or fear/ intimidate, but figured since in normal play it would only last like two turns at best it was more fun to go for the scarier option. Plus I like how it creates a tug-of-war between making him scarier or abducting people.
Also debated if the creatures should just be exiled forever, but with the way the trigger works I figure it’s more balanced to have some way to get them back if someone were to, say, [[Peer into the abyss]] and get like 6 exile triggers in one go.
I wanted the effects to be something of a "white=defense/ buildup" and "black=attack" dynamic, to reflect the two sides of the character. I also just wanted to incorporate as many 2's as possible, lol
Inspired by [[Altanak]] and [[Say It’s Name]], I wanted to explore what could make for a fun Bloody Mary card. Making the mirror for her was fun but figuring out what she does once she’s flipped was the more interesting part (the urban myth doesn’t really have a consensus on what she actually *does*, lol).
Thought it be neat to lean into her making “evil reflections” of everyone’s creatures, and giving here a bit of a [[Weeping Angel]] inspired ability to propagate it.
I’m not fully sure if I’d want to stick with the “once per turn” clause on “Say her name”, or if I’d want to stick with reflection counters instead of some pre-existing one. Would love to hear what people think about it all!
Just thought it’d be fun to design a card based around making some random common dude in your deck the commander. Also enjoyed the thought of making eminence bad (*for you)

Still a bit new to Magic, but I spent a while searching for cards I thought would make for fun proxies of V1 or V2 from Ultrakill. I ultimately leaned into trying to make as much blood as possible as a challenge and went with V1 as Strefan to do that. I toyed with trying to make an equipment/ lifegain stuff deck for Licia/ V2, but it was hard to make something that I thought would actually be fun to play, haha. Still decided to make both of them print ready for an order I put together just for the sake of finishing this project!
