Georgetown Law School Owes 2026 JD Grads an Apology ...
...along with everyone else who attended Sunday's dangerous fiasco of a ceremony. It was an insult to the grads and their families.
I witnessed an elderly woman in a wheelchair trapped in a crush of people desperately seeking seats in the shade. I saw a middle-aged man pushed to the ground by another man literally crawling over him to get closer to the aisle while a nearby security officer did nothing. I lost my 80-year-old mother in the crowd and feared for her safety.
We all sweated through the presentation of so many diplomas that, by the time our loved one's name was called, we were delirious with fatigue and boredom.
Most grads and families missed the closing remarks and traditional "cap toss" in our necessary eagerness to escape the crushing heat and boredom.
I'm angry for the graduates who had to endure this half-assed tribute to their hard work and dedication. We all deserved better.
