Sympathy card - is it appropriate? Mexican butterfly and flowers....

Very sadly my husband's cousin's husband has passed away from cancer at 41 years old. I'm so heartbroken for her and her children. I always make handmade cards for birthdays or other holidays, my way of showing I care.

I was thinking of doing a Mexican themed sympathy card because this man was very proud of his culture and where he was born.

I am a 3rd gen Canadian, so I'm not sure if this would be appropriate, based on some researching symbolism. What do you think?

Card idea: Giant White butterflies flying and landing on orange marigolds.

White butterflies I saw represent loved one spirit, giant white being a central American species, and Mexican marigolds represent cycle of life, bitter sweet.

I hope this is a nice idea, if not, what could I do instead?
