Advice wanted - Starting to plan FL / CO / destination wedding
Hi! Seeking some advice about kicking off wedding planning and would love to hear any insights from folks in this group. We have not started planning yet - here’s what we’re looking at right now:
- Budget: ~$250k budget for wedding only (excluding night-before costs, planner fees, and anything else)
- Size: Think our guest list could easily be 250-300 people
- Location: Location is up in the air - we could be open to several options based on budget x size
- If we do it in the US, we would consider Florida (potentially broader Miami or Ft Lauderdale area) or Colorado (probably broader Denver area - Telluride, for example, would be too difficult to get to)
- We’re open to outside of the US à la Puerto Rico or Mexico City (that general vibe)
- The key for location is accessibility for guests. We will have people coming from all over, so we’d want for festivities to be within an hour of a major airport
- We want to provide an elegant, upscale experience for our guests and don’t want to cut corners. Aesthetic still TBD
Here’s what I’d appreciate any input on:
- Does this budget feel reasonable for the size and types of locations we’re looking at? Any budget considerations for these types of locations?
- Can anyone volunteer experiences planning on similar budgets in any of the locations above?
- Any recommendations or opinions worth considering - planners, venues, specific advice / tradeoffs based on what we’re going for?
- Any insight into what I should be thinking about / prioritizing first, and the types of questions I should be asking?
Realize this is pretty open-ended … which is reflective of where we are right now! We’re “green” to this whole process, so just want to gage what options might be.
