Jen, her grandfather, and the scar

It is a scene from the pilot that might seem unassuming, yet remains crucial for Jen—and one I personally find magnificent. It is the first day of school, and Jen is getting ready for high school. Before leaving, she enters her sick grandfather's room to speak with him; she appears both deeply moved and fascinated by his scar. She even touches it ever so gently—a striking moment, as Jen looks like an angel, yet she is not afraid of that sight.

I love this sequence because it reveals so much with so little. First, there is the fact that Jen seems very close to her grandfather—likely much closer than to her grandmother at this stage. She does not hesitate to touch his scar, and generally, one only shares that kind of physical ease with people one loves deeply.

There is clearly a history of a deep bond between her and her grandfather—a bond perhaps so strong that it somehow prevented Grams and Jen from truly getting to know one another.

Another vital point: Jen seems fascinated by the scar. It is unsettling because she appears to "recognize" it, as if she bore the exact same mark herself. As if that scar were the perfect physical reflection of the deep wound she carries within. As if she were saying, "In my own way, I am just as damaged as you are, Grandfather." This clearly foreshadows everything we will learn about Jen throughout the series—her past, her demons, and the traumatic origins of it all.

Remake de Ocarina of Time et l'échec de Link

I’ve seen a lot of people wondering if >!the "Link's failure" scenario would be addressed in the upcoming remake. At first, I thought, "No way; it’s surely a remake faithful to the original legend—there’s no room for that."!<

>!But on second thought, it is possible to keep the broad strokes of the storyline while introducing the "failure timeline."!<

>!Consider the moment right after Link unseals the Master Sword. We know Link sleeps for seven years after finding the sword because he isn't ready yet. But in that case, why send him to get the three Spiritual Stones beforehand? It would make more sense to wait until Link had the necessary maturity; then he could set out to find the three Stones and, subsequently, the sword.!<

>!Here’s a scenario we could imagine: Link finds the three Stones and unseals the sword. Ganondorf wreaks havoc as usual, and Link sets out to find and awaken the Sages. Final battle: Link fails and dies. He wasn't ready.!<

>!The awakened Sages manipulate time to alter a specific point in the past—the moment Link found the sword. This time, it is decided that Link will sleep until he is strong and ready.!<

>!This results in two timelines (pending the third one that emerges after the final battle): one where Link failed, and one where the Sages ensured Link slept until he was a teenager.!<

>!And this could be introduced easily, in just a few lines of dialogue.!<

Debunking the myth: No, Dawson isn't the possessive one in the story.

A.J. : Dawson s'en fiche. 0

Pacey : Dawson s'énerve (il s'énerve vraiment, lol). 1

Wilder : Dawson s'en fiche. 0

Coda's biggest mystery finally solved

Edit!!!!! That’s not quite right: after getting back from the movies and before packing his suitcase, Dawson also has a conversation with his father, then gets a phone call from Pacey. Let's add another half-hour.

That puts the kiss at the three-hour mark—probably somewhere between three and three and a half hours in.

Hi there!

I know the tapestry from the *Ocarina of Time* teaser—which is incomplete, by the way—is almost certainly more of a symbolic representation than a geographical one, but... don't you find it strange that the Deku Tree was placed northwest of Hyrule Castle on the tapestry, rather than to the southeast like in the original game?

That could be an indication that, at the very least, the world map is going to be significantly different in the next game.

What do you think? A possible clue, or an overinterpretation of an insignificant detail?

Dawson's Creek and the "Team Pacey" divide

I’ve wanted to write this post for a long time, but I wasn't quite sure how to approach it. In the end, I might as well tackle it head-on.

I’d like to talk about certain Pacey fans—specifically, fans of the Joey/Pacey pairing.

Let’s start with the obvious: Pacey is a very popular character, and his relationship with Joey is the most popular among the show's audience. So far, so good. There was a time when fans of this couple coexisted peacefully with others online—back in the era of forums and blogs, to put it simply.

Then came the era of divisive social media—platforms where nuance is banished, where if you aren't "with" them, you're "against" them, and so on. From that point on, a segment of the Joey and Pacey fandom (the loudest and most driven faction) seemed to decide, as one, to take over every online space dedicated to *Dawson's Creek*.

The result? By 2026, it has become nearly impossible to have a calm conversation about the show unless the discussion is aimed at singing the praises of Pacey and Joey. Whether on YouTube, right here, or on other platforms, it is very difficult to talk about Dawson, Jen, or Andie without those characters being viciously disparaged. It becomes impossible to discuss any of Joey’s other relationships without facing the wrath of certain fans. And, of course, it becomes impossible to talk about Dawson without the other side tearing the character apart using caricatures and fallacious arguments.

The real problem is that the worst fanatics don't even offer interesting arguments—arguments that might at least foster engaging discussions. All they do is chant "Team Pacey!" or "Such chemistry!" or downvote opposing opinions.

How did it come to this? I imagine the most intense fans feel like they’re living out a relationship vicariously through Joey and Pacey. Fair enough—why not? (Even though I think it’s extremely unhealthy.) The problem is that they’ve practically built a community around this obsession, making them feel like it’s them against the world and that everyone else is the enemy. I also assume they feel constantly threatened by the fact that the Dawson/Joey relationship is the show's central focus (regardless of what you think of their dynamic, it’s a fact: they are the heart of the show—that’s just how it is).

Worse still: they praise Pacey’s tolerance and progressive values, yet their own behavior displays the utmost intolerance and narrow-mindedness.

I tried bringing this up on the other page, and—naturally—I got banned, lol. I also noticed that the creator of "TheRealDawsoncreek" page was frequently subjected to insults and bullying. How is it possible to be so closed-minded about a mere fictional relationship?

Then again, I’m not painting everyone with the same brush. Many Joey and Pacey fans are cool and pleasant, and it’s always a pleasure chatting with them. But the most extreme, closed-minded, and intolerant faction of that fanbase is also the most active, and they’ve really tarnished the show's image. The result is that others—people who don’t share this adoration for the Joey/Pacey pairing but simply want to have a calm discussion about the show—find themselves cast as "enemies." It’s a real shame for such a cool series.

So, a direct message to the couple's most extreme fans—the ones who won't tolerate any kind of debate: open your minds. The Pacey/Joey relationship only spans a season and a half (with only one season where it was truly active); there are plenty of other things to talk about. And if Pacey and Joey are really the only things you care about, no problem—but understand that others couldn't care less about that couple, and that's okay.

I think it's still possible to discuss this series without being "for" or "against" it.

PS : Apologies for the rough English; I'm French, and for a text this long, I feel the need to use a translator.

Team Jean-Jean, lol.

It's true, season 6 is pretty bad, for a million reasons. And yes, in some ways, Eddie is a jerk. BUT... his relationship with Joey is interesting and gives a kind of backbone to a season that otherwise lacks vision.

First of all, he's passionate about literature. That's a rare trait in Dawson's Creek. Secondly, he's the one who dominates the E/J relationship, which creates an interesting dynamic. Usually, Joey is "the unattainable girlfriend" (for Dawson, who never really got his chance with her; for Pacey, who trembled knowing she was still in love with Dawson; for Jack, whom Joey unconsciously used as a safety net; and even for AJ). Here, for the first time, Joey is the one chasing after someone who doesn't know what he wants, and this head-over-heels, uncertain side of her suits Joey well.

But above all, and despite Eddie's jerkish attitude, he and Joey had some of the best dialogue in the series together. I don't know if it's because Eddie loves literature, but I think his lines (and Joey's related ones) were particularly well-crafted by the dialogue writers.

In short: Joey and Eddie, along with Dawson and Todd, are the two pairs that somewhat salvage what is, for me, the shipwreck that is season 6. We quickly understand that things won't last between Joey and Eddie, and we also get a pretty clear idea of how it's going to end, but it's a delightful relationship to follow.

And what do you think of Eddie? A fascinating, tortured writer or a pretentious jerk (lol)? And most importantly, what should Eddie wear? A denim jacket or a life jacket?
