Minecraft Bedrock AI Compagnon

https://youtu.be/gqIvw_EcPCo

I play Minecraft Bedrock edition (vanilla survival mode) with my kids and created an AI compagnon to do the boring labor for us :)

I only started playing Minecraft a couple of weeks ago, so I am not yet very good at it. I am learning and enjoying it a lot though.

The AI has his own practice world to learn new things before he applies them in our survival world.

We can chat with it or use emotes to communicate (my son is six years old).

Here you can see him learning to harvest all kinds of trees in two ways:

  1. Harvest the wood and let the leafs decay to get more saplings, with a buffer of saplings in a chest. The numbers are different for each type of tree based on the chance of saplings. This is to keep the tree supply sustained. He replants those fixed trees.
  2. With the extra saplings he temporarily plants them and the harvests the leafs with scissors. So we have those as decorative blocks.

This tree is the most complex one but he is dealing with it great, albeit kinda slow.

He has learned a lot already over the past week or so. I tried to make it generic and not specific four our survival world, but I guess he does have a particular way of playing that I guided him in to.

He can, among other things:
* ask where he can sleep or place his own bed and remember where that is
* walk around to find the perimiter of a base to know where he is safe at night, otherwise only stays inside during the night
* harvest and sustain all tree sorts in our tree garden
* help build stuff: dig rooms that we specify, put ceiling or flooring blocks that we choose, ...
* knows how to take a boat and maps and go explore so the maps in our map room are updated
* make loads of crates (needed that for my storage room) by harvesting either trees of bamboo and crafting everything needed for and including crates and hoppers
* react to emotes: wave to say "come here and help me with what I am doing" for example.

Because I think it is cool I made him put signs at the different practice spots in the practice world with a short description of what he practiced in this spot.

I started out using Grok for the reasoning because I had a subscription that is still active for two monts and I don't use. But when I switched to gpt-6.1-sol it changed from "this is kinda cool" to a little AGI moment.

Great stuff.

ChatGPT Voice in Flemish

Hi,

I am from the Flemish part of Belgium. We speak Dutch but the accent is very different from the one in the Netherlands.

I liked ChatGPT Voice already: it has transformed the way I do coordination work instantly. Especially now that it also works from mobile through a remote codex connection. I can talk to my work machine from anywhere now and have an actual productive discussion about it, coordinating multiple tracks of work seamlessly.

Preparing a meal or having a long walk while I coordinate work or prepare admin, instead of having to sit behind my desk? Yes please! This could have my ADHD ass actually do those things instead of procrastinating.

But the Dutch voice, for me, is harsh to listen to. It takes mental effort. I asked it whether it could speak Flemish during conversations and then it talked like a Dutch person cossplaying a Flemish person.

But then all of the sudden I started a conversation, and the voice was in actual Flemish! A pleasant voice to listen to, much less mentally challenging. It happened only once.

Then I started experimenting. And now I have a consistent way of triggering a Flemish voice. Every conversation I just start with only the words "Praat Vlaams". It almost always spawns an actual Flemisch voice then, but it is a tiny bit different every time.

Do other people have the same experience, with Flemish or other dialects of other languages. It only works consistently when I do it this way, I wasn't able to get it to work with custom instructions or any other way. It would be cool if we could set this up so we get the same voice every time. Some voices are just easier to listen to then others, although that is a very personal preference I guess.

Multi Ragdoll Control

Started out as experiments for a crash party game in the likes of the Flatout mini games. Now I am thinking more towards an absurd and hilarious over-the-top breakdance type of game.

Removed the music because I created some with a non-commercial suno account and that is not allowed to share I think. And it sucks anyway.

Australian Breakdance Simulation

Having fun testing ragdoll pose control in Unreal Engine.

On a serious note: I am experimenting with different techniques to get ragdoll pose control going. Realism is not a goal: it has to be funny and still controlable enough for an arcade game.

I do some full body IK, control rig physics, but in the end for this type of thing it seems direct joint (motor) control still yields the best results.

Anyone else have any experience or tips or resources to point me to, for controlling a ragdoll character in the air and on the ground?
