Octoeverywhere setup questions

One thing I've wanted to be able to do for some time was to monitor my printer remotely. My old printer is a Neptune 3 Pro that I tried and failed to get klipper running through an old laptop running linux that's possibly too old.

I've since upgraded to a Carbon 1 and now I'm looking at Octoeverywhere to get remote control as well as their failure monitoring. Again I tried to use the laptop, but still had no luck. I know I could try a raspberry pi for either of these, but I'm trying to not buy any additional hardware if I can avoid it.

Which brings me to the question...I know I could put the octoeverywhere plugin directly onto the printer to skip the middleman and just have it communicate directly with octoeverywhere without using the laptop middle man. I'm a little hesitant to fiddle with the software on my printer because everything works perfectly and I don't want to mess that up. For anyone that's used octoeverywhere this way, was it hard? Did it cause any problems? Do you recommend it?

Hi. I'm looking to upgrade from my Neptune 3 pro to something a bit fancier and with some additional automated functions. I've been torn between a Bambu a1 or a Centuri Carbon and up until this week, one of the big considerations was the option of doing multicolor. The canvas and it's incredible price took that out of the mix and now I'm leaning toward the carbon. It's basically come down to do I want another bedslinger or a coreXY and is it worth having the closed "it just works" software ecosystem from Bambu (with all the possible concerns of it being closed) or the modified klipper and more flexibility in the software.

I wanted to come here to a community of people that have one to ask a simple question. Is there anything that might make me rethink my decision? Are there any known issues I should know to further inform my choice? I have a few friends that have Bambu printers and I'm the only elegoo guy so I wanted to ask other elegoo users for some honest feedback and opinions.
