Garage at Dawn
A little oil pastel painting of my garage I did while sick in bed today.

This series was inspired by the light of dawn and the types of things people see outside during their morning routines. The old sheet drying out on the porch railing, the garage as you enter your vehicle heading to work or school, of the numerous tow zone signposts decorating the corners of every street near a school.

Hi All! I am looking to get some stronger, more consistent lighting at my desk after sunset, and I thrifted the pictured lamp for that purpose. However, it is missing the clamp(?) that would hold it to the desk and the ledge of my desk barely extrudes enough anyway. Is there a way to attach it to the surface and what supplies would I need to do so?
Just having fun with light today. I really love sunlight on concrete and stone, so I did a few studies of that. And the neons were just because. The neons are painted from Pexel references, the buildings from imagination.
I took a trip up to Lake Michigan and captured several great photos of the beach, docks, and ships. Here are a few of the ACEOs I've created from those pictures. The last one I'm going to recreate, but the others will be on eBay along with the watercolor paintings by the end of the week.
I took pictures on Lake Michigan a couple days ago, and they were good enough to make a few pieces out of. I wanted to experiment with using oil as a solvent (don't like it, it makes everything too greasy). However, I did find that using a clear acrylic gesso and sanding it makes the perfect textured paper.
I feel so happy that all the listings I kept up actually sold! The other two were gifted.
This was the first ACEO I painted, referenced from a picture of a sunset taken by a friend who lives in PA. I loved it so much I had to recreate it, and this was the result.

Hi! I'm najia and I make watercolor and oil pastel Original ACEOs. All of my ACEOs are either doodles from imagination or based on photographs I've taken, no AI!

This is my first painting of this subject, and I learned a lot. I used reference images of my own garden, taken by putting a blank piece of white paper behind the plant I wanted to photograph. That worked well enough, but unfortunately I became a mosquito lunch trying to hold as still as possible to reduce blur.
I do have a few observations about the process:
I absolutely had to create thumbnail studies before beginning, which I normally don't do.
I did this on an ACEO (2.5x3.5) and it was much too small for the amount of detail I wanted to include
To get the effect I wanted, I had to do several layers, this requiring a larger time commitment.
I also have a few questions:
How do I control the strength of my washes?
Is it a stylistic choice or accuracy that inspires a lot of muted tones I see in other botanical illustrations?
Thanks for reading!
A small study of water reflection in a pond near a parking lot. If you want, I would love it if people used the reference provided to make their own study and posted it in the comments!

Question: Does anyone prefer eBay over Tiny Gallery? It's only my first time using it, but the views are really low.
