Honeymoon in Italy
Hi everyone!
My fiance and I are planning a honeymoon in Italy for spring 2027. It's our first time in Italy so we are trying to see the major sites while still building in time for relaxation.
For reference, we're both in our early 30s and have some experience traveling. We love to experience new places through food, museums, and lots of walking. Hoping to get some feedback on the pacing of our itinerary - open to recommendations!
April 26 - Travel - NYC > Rome (redeye)
April 27 - 30 - Rome (3 nights)
* Day 1 - Explore + recover from jetlag
* Day 2 - Vatican
* Day 3 - Colosseum, Pantheon
April 30 - Travel - Rome > Chianti
April 30 - May 3 - Chianti region (3 nights)
We're looking for hotels in the countryside that have a restaurant and some outdoor space or a pool so we can spend most of our time relaxing in one spot.
* Day 1 - Relax at hotel
* Day 2 - Wine tasting(s)
* Day 3 - TBD - more wine tastings, bike rentals, a cooking class?
May 3 - Travel - Chianti > Florence
May 3 - 6 - Florence (3 nights)
* Day 1 - Explore! Maybe a food tour?
* Day 2 - Galleria dell’Accademia, the Duomo, Mercato Centrale
* Day 3 - Uffizi Galleries
May 6 - Travel - Florence > Positano
*May 6 - 11 - Positano (5 nights) We are open to other spots on the Amalfi Coast to help save some money, but have heard from friends that Positano is worth the splurge. This portion of the trip is for relaxing, so we don't plan on moving around much. Also to note - I get bad motion sickness so no boat tours although I know it's highly recommended
* Day 1 - Relax at hotel
* Day 2 - Explore Positano
* Day 3 - Beach club / cooking class?
* Day 4 - Day trip to another town (Ravello, Capri?) or Path of the Gods
* Day 5 - Explore Positano
May 11 - Travel - Positano > Naples > NYC
Also! I know May 1 is a national holiday and a lot of things will be closed. Would we have any issue doing wine tastings in the countryside that day?
Thanks!
