This might be a bit of a long shot but I remember reading this book when I was maybe 8-10 years old I vaguely remember the book was about a young girl who went to a magical world or realm? I don’t remember details but I think she had a sister and possibly she had to save her sister or her sister joined her in the world, I remember it had some darker elements or scenes that were a bit unsettling or creepy with some of those creatures. I think at one point she realises she’s the princess? Or chosen one in that world? Or has a connection to the world through her family ?
I am fairly certain the beginning of the story took place possibly at a relatives home she was staying at where she uncovered something that would later lead her to the world and I believe she was told not to go there? But again I’m not fairly certain of the details.
