Alternative to the iscooter i9 max
I am UK based, looking for a budget scooter for my ~4 mile commute as a cheaper alternative to paying for rentals. I’m unclear as to what to get as I do not share the same priorities as most seem to on this sub so wondering if anyone in a similar boat can offer some advice. My priorities are:
- Low cost - private use of scooters is technically illegal in the UK and there is a (very slim) chance it will be seized. I am happy to take this risk but obviously don’t want to pour loads of money into it just in case I get unlucky - the purchase needs to pay for itself fairly quickly.
- Low maintenance - I will not be travelling fast (less than 20 mph) and really am not interested spending my life sorting flats, so against this sub’s preference I would heavily favour solid tyres, unless anyone would like to convince me otherwise despite these points.
- Longevity - speaks for itself
- Light weight/portable - I will need to carry it up a flight of stairs to my flat.
- enough range to get me to work and back reliably (less than 8 miles)
I have zero interest in going fast. I weigh 130 lbs and there are a couple of hills on my commute. I have been using rental scooters which have solid tyres for years and do not find them particularly uncomfortable.
Based on all of this the iscooter i9 max fits my criteria. However I am aware this brand is strongly disliked here due to issues with dodgy batteries and nonexistent customer support if things go wrong. Therefore can anyone recommend an alternative that does not have this issue (or alternatively talk me out of getting solid tyres in which case the NIU KQi2 or 3 seem like good options?)
