I want to use some software that would be hosted on my PC and accessed remotely from a mobile device. I'm familiar with port forwarding. I'm wondering if I should use a vpn though or if a VPN is even usable for forwarding ports.

I'm also curious about my router choice. I'm using a TP link router but I've heard a lot of things about them being Chinese and whatnot. Is it anything to be concerned about?
