Cameras(brand) for me and my gf for the next 20+ years
Hello there camera friends!
I am a hobby photographer that recently got myself one of thoes mythical girlfriends that also like Photography. As we move forward in our relationship we want to down the line use the same camera system (brand) so we can share lenses and accessories.
What we use cameras for right now:
I shoot candid, portraits, some sports and my dog on hikes.
She takes alot of everything atm, but arcitectual photos like building and structures, aswell as some form of street (typical huge tree in the middle of the city)
What we want to start using it for: I want to start doing more video, she aswell. Cinematic 1min videos.
I really want a Full-Frame, i think about it all the time and tho my camera is a beast, it sometimes lack performance indoors when i cant have to shalow depth of field and too low shutter speed. I usualy take pictures of kids at my work.
We are currently expecting a baby girl and want more down the line, so we want to document our kids life with both Photo and Video.
We are not pro at all, we are hobbyists that cares about quality, cinematic video/photo and easy workflow, weather sealed.
All photos and videos are beeing edited on a mac with M2 and we have about 3TB of m.2 ssd storage.
She currently has a Pentax 17 and a Lumic GX880.
I currnetly have a Sony A6700, a 200-600 and Viltrox 75mm pro. I love my viltrox, not so mutch my 200-600 zoom (going to sell it) as i dont take alot of wildlife anymore.
We are open to any brand and can sell everything we have. So state your case for your favorite brand or help us with what you think wil be the best course of action we should take.
I have been searching, youtubed, chatgpted and asking around and this is what i found out, mabye you agree.
Canon has fantastic cameras, but closed system for lenses and thoes that are there.. are expensive (but very good)
An R8 for her and R6iii for me
Sony has fantastic cameras with abit worse? ergonomics, open lens system so alot to choose from.
A7iii for her and A7V for me, or A6700 for her and A7V for me. She really like the 3D effect, the seperation that full-frame takes, but my A6700 with an 1.2 or something can come close right?
Lumix is video centric and has the fast growing L-Mount, but worse AF?
both get an S5ii
Nikon, very good ergonomics, worse in AF on older models
Z6iii for me and Z6ii for her
That beeing said, we are open, we want a system we can buy lenses for the next 20+ years, so we dont need to change brands, just cameras down the line. If i missed some info you need, please just ask, open book here. We live in norway so our cameras is quite more expensive that in USA and alot of the rest of the world, and we can buy used. Her budget is about 1500-2000 USD on house and mine is 3500-4000 USD. We have an 25% import tax, so use currency exchange if you need. A7V cost about 4K usd here.
