[Electrical] - what worked for me

Found out I passed last Wednesday.

Here's my process and what worked for me.

Refresher courses: Signed up for School of PE (FE) spring course. The course had some really good professors but also some not too good. In my overall opinion it felt underwhelming and the pace of the class seemed a bit too fast where the student couldn't really study the material enough while keeping up with the course schedule (~2 to 3 subjects a week is covered). The course was good for getting introduction to the topics based fundamentals and understanding the calculator you will be using during the exam.

Study Material: purchased Wasim FE prep book, spent like 1.5 months going over 75% (excluded topics that didn't feel need to focused on due to time constraints of scheduled exam) of all the problems in the book. Problems were really good and in my opinion they are more difficult or longer than the test problems. However, if you are able to workout the problem and understand the solution you should get a good grasp on the concepts of the subject.

NCEES Practice Exams: Absolute must. I was told they were problems that were removed from previous exams but problems set up or wording were very similar to the actual exam you will be taking. Scored 64% on both volumes but spent the last few days going over and making sure I understood the solutions.

My advice: You have to make the sacrifice of your time and study. There's no way around it, if you want to learn the subjects you need to sacrifice your free time or family time. I spent average 20 hours per week on top of work for 3 months to study for the exam. Make sure to do the NCEES Practice Exams, I felt like there were some problems that were almost identical or required the same procedure you encountered in the real exam. Finally, try to relax and get in the right state of mind going into the exam. For me, since I invested so much time studying, I trusted my instincts and studying. In my mind I did all I could do to prepare and I put in the hours. So, if I pass then awesome but if I failed, atleast I can tell myself I tired my hardest preparing and taking the exam so next time I know how the exam would be like and also the test format. This process of thinking made me stayed composed during the exam and prevented me from getting testing anxiety or second guess my choices. If possible try to find fellow people to study with. Having people keep you in check and accountable of studying sometimes is the push you need.
