IBD unclassified

Hello,

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2019. I was told a few years ago during a colonoscopy that I also had inflammation in my Ileum at the time my consultant said "Ah this is more in line with Crohn's".

I have had a B12/ Folate deficiency for 5 years which was completely untreated. It was picked up in 2020 and nothing was done about it. I was in hospital for a week last year in a very bad flare up. I was put on infliximab, which has been a miracle drug for me. Before discharge I told the gastro team I still felt exhausted and the Dr checked my bloods. That was the first I heard I was anaemic and had the deficiencies. I was given an iron infusion.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar diagnosis 'IBD unclassified'. Did you end up with a proper Crohn's diagnosis?

Have you ever experienced a B12/Folate deficiency? I am not on B12 injections for life. It is becoming clear that more Crohn's patients have the B12 / Folate deficiency.

TIA
