Why was 'You Know You're Right' actually recorded?
I've been looking for a general answer for this, but besides from Google's stupid AI grabbing information from an unofficial Nirvana Facebook group, I can't find any exact reason for it? I would have presumed it would have been for tour promotion (given the band was nearing the end of the North American part of their In Utero tour, and would be going to Europe in the next month), but if it was the case, wouldn't it have been released by the time that part of the tour started on an EP (in similar case to Been A Son on the Blew EP), or at the very least, released as a single?
If it was recorded for a later album or something, then why would it have been recorded so soon? I know Kurt wrote songs years in advance (All Apologies, Rape Me, Tourette's, Polly, Been A Son, etc), but why would it have been recorded so early? This song was recorded on January 30, 1994, only around 3 months after In Utero was released.
I like the song, I would call it one of my favourites, but I don't know why it was recorded to begin with.
I know the answer to this is probably out there somewhere, but I can't find an exact reason from a couple of Google searches, if anyone knows and would give me answer, I would be very thankful!
