Avis overcharged me and refuses to believe me, any suggestions for help?

I pre-paid for a rental car from Avis at Dublin Airport. The receipt said the pre-payment price was $286 USD, but the credit card charge has come through at $412 USD ($588 CAD). It is not a pre-auth charge but is posted. I went to pickup the car and they said I prepaid 234 Euros which equals about 286 USD. It's now been over a month since I had the rental and 2 months since I started calling Avis about this. They have multiple times made me email them proof, then ignore it. I call them back and they say "it's probably currency conversation" and I said it wasn't then they said "maybe its additional insurance" which its not as the bill says $286 and there is no add on for insurance on the bill. They also claim that their system shows I was only charged $286 USD but my credit card very clearly shows it was $412 USD. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get Avis to pay me back the money they overcharged me? Will my credit card chargeback the overcharged amount?

Edit: Thanks for your help, dispute has been filed with CC company
