Recommendations for professional grooming shears

Howdy!

Does anyone have a brand of shear they recommend?

I'm a solo groomer and recently got a Chris Christensen Classic Series set and I have to get them resharpened every 1-2 months. Recently, I didn't even drop my CC chunkers and a tooth got stuck while trying to cut. I've seen so many brands and price ranges, I dont know where to start and I dont want to drop $$$ and they suck like the last pair.

Thank you! <3

Solo Groomer Overwhelmed with Bookings

I don't really know what I'm looking for. I'm just overwhelmed and looking for insight, I guess.

I'm a solo groomer in a small area with a couple of other grooming salons (maybe 10 in the whole county). I was open for 1.5yrs with smooth sailing until a groomer in the area moved and told all her clients to come to me without even reaching out. She moved in March and I'm now booked out 10 weeks and stopped taking new clients a while ago. I have lots of people rebooking further in advanced now but I have people literately yelling at me because they cant get their dog in next week. I've told them it might be best to go else where, they complain, and still book the 10 weeks.

Do I close my bookings to those who don't rebook? I have a facebook post drafted but will it do anything? I'm trying to not be a people pleaser but I don't know how to tell these people I'm only one person and they should probably go elsewhere. I was making a wait list just to please these people but others don't cancel as much as people think they do.

I am in a small building and have no room for another table, let alone another body. I'd like to expand, but I have to wait for another building to open.

I don't have any groomer friends to get their thoughts so thank you for even reading <3

Hi All!

Solo groomer here. What is everyone's protocol for no call/no shows? I have a booking system that sends text messages for reminders and appointment confirmations but some clients are texting back to confirm and still no call/no show. I'm completely booked out 2 months so I don't mind if I lose a few clients but that money would be nice...

I know this seems rude but I don't like calling to see if they will still make it because they most likely won't, and like this one today, I don't even want to reschedule (every 6 month doodle shave down. Has rescheduled or no showed 3 times. Trust me, I've tried to get them on the schedule but noooo). I'm such a people pleaser but I just feel its their responsibility to show up to their appointments. Even if I do call, it will be too late to take the pup.

Also, how does one fire a client? I'm hopping this one doesn't try to call anymore but the people in my area are a lot and acting like I'm the only groomer in the state (a groomer in my town moved in March and told everyone to come to me without talking to me. I'm no longer taking new clients but I'm still booked out way too far)
