To End Genocide
An Inspirational Poem Influenced By The Dalai Lama’s Leadership and Beliefs
* *
The atrocities enacted upon the Tibetans abroad
Exemplify the many cruel attitudes and injustices from other countries and times
From the Indigenous Holocaust to the Jewish Holocaust and Darfur
These atrocities signal a lack of compassion and empathy for all oppressed people alike,
Who are just different in beliefs and culture.
Peace and compassion are lacking.
For with the way of nonviolence
Only more violence has been perpetuated.
An attitude of intolerance is what has led to genocide
Which fuels hatred, perpetuating a cycle
For fellow human beings to never see eye to eye, and to be killed aimlessly and without concrete concern for their well-being.
To the people who cannot find the love and tolerance
For others whose faith and culture are different, may they come to know love, and find
A Peace and kindness that can spread faster than the hate.
It takes an open heart
To understand the plight of the oppressed
Love will win in the end
Maybe not every battle can be won
But the war on love, peace, and acceptance
Cannot forge a clear path forward through time and will hopefully end one day soon.
Peace, love, and tolerance is what is needed here.
A shared humanity is what should bind us,
Not the tolerance of an attitude of hatred and distaste that fuels genocide everywhere
May all the oppressed people everywhere rise above
And
Join others who care
To
Continue the peace and love that is needed to end genocide any and everywhere.
