very positive review for u/khellific! Japan --> Ireland
Over the past few months I've been ordering my trinkets off Mercari with the help of u/khellific, originally it was meant to be only one or two things but we had difficulty with Surugaya ghosting us for a while about an order that was meant to be shipped- so it gave me a bit of time to add more to the pile while we waited. I wanna emphasize that was Surugaya being very incompetent and nothing of Pyu's fault. He was very good at contacting them to try and get their attention.
Pyu himself is a *very* good proxy, he's considerate, professional, and very easy to speak to. I'm also a very big fan of how he does his service on Discord, it's something I'm already very familiar with and he'll snap up the item basically immediately once the money is through, assuming it's within his business hours which are 11am-11pm Japan time, so practically all day he's available. It also means you have a little community of fellow shoppers to ask questions or share trinkets with, it's very nice.
Another thing I'm very happy with is that all his fees are easily readable on his Discord and Notion pages. Due to a variety of reasons, I really dislike the "DM me for fees info" approach a few of the shippers here take, it's generally just inefficient and uncomfortable.
Shipping was pretty expensive, but this was also a very large package, and the way consolidation works out it was pretty good on a per-figure basis. I shipped via EMS, in total it cost ¥18,200 for a 6.35kg package measuring 62cm x 42cm x 42cm, ¥17,200 of which being the EMS fee, ¥850 being a packaging fee (as it was a very large package) and ¥150 for a bit of insurance. While it was a good chunk of change I don't feel I overpaid for the shipping at all.
The package itself came extremely well-packed, cardboard inserts on everything, heaps of bubble wrap and tape- everything was secure in its own box. It was excellent.
I think my *only* complaint is that his starting fee is ¥1000 which is very reasonable for stuff like what I buy that are like ¥10,000 or whatever, but if you're browsing Mercari for little anime keychains or other such trinkets that cost only maybe ¥500 or ¥1000 it does double the price. I believe a lot of this is because it's a small business and the economy of scale isn't super strong right now, so it's totally understandable. I think the service fee is extremely reasonable for what is being provided, just it may be best used for higher value items that you really wanna get and make sure that they're looked after properly.
Overall, I highly recommend you avail of his services! I will definitely be working with him in the future, I imagine.
