Is it just me, or does the autoride feature really suck.

I'll be in the middle of a quest and have to return to the quest giver, so I hop on the horse and ride away, hit X, and wait to get to my destination. A few minutes passes and I realize that I've basically just been going in a giant circle.

What am I doing wrong? I mean, I know that you can hit🔺️ to go to the map marker or just stay with X autoride, but it seems like a majority of the time, it doesn't take me where I want.

Any help is appreciated, even if it is because I'm dumb lol
