I come from a design background, so I keep wanting AI tools to feel less like a chat box and more like a room.

You can lay out notes, research, docs, links, decisions, tasks, screenshots, and AI outputs on a realtime canvas. Then the agent can read what is already on the board, add new notes, connect ideas, draft from the context, or help keep a brainstorm moving.

The part I care about most is that the work stays visible. Chat is great for quick answers. CLI agents are great at navigating files. But creative work often needs space: moving things around, seeing patterns, and sharing the messy middle with other people.

We use it daily for brainstorms, product discovery, specs, and random deep dives where the idea is not clear yet. But also as a place where our teams context compounds and is easily shared.

We are now between positioning it as a shared brain and more of per project white board that teams can use to collaborate. So I would love to get more feedback on where it clicks for others.

Is the per project context board clear positioning?

Or it's actually more interesting to have second shared brain with canvas view?

We also have CLI tool so it's easy to use this with your local agents.

Really pumped about how the release of Kanwas is going so far.

It's our first OSS project and I didn't expect it to take of this way.

We wanted to build a space where you can do the creative thinking work - brainstorm, research and work on ideas that are still messy and getting most out of LLMs in that space.

We also wanted it to have real time collaboration so you can work on the same board with others.

It's like if Miro and Claude Code had a baby and it feels like first true collaborative AI experience.

We love to use it for prepping product launches, marketing campaigns, product discovery, or just going deeper on some random idea with the team. Brainstorms are fun as well as you can prompt the agent to kinda help you going based on what you already put in.

We've posted on a few subreddits and it took of, planning to grind more!

For me canvas is always superior when it comes to creative and collaborative work. So we built one on steroids.

Kanwas (free hosted) gives humans and agents a persistent realtime board. You can bring notes, research, files, links, decisions, drafts, feedback, and agent outputs into one shared space.

Your team can see the reasoning as it develops, not just the final artifact. Agents can read and write the workspace, draft, research, and organize. Humans keep the judgment layer.

It's built on top of persistent file system and has a self evolving brain as well that learns about your product, logs your decisions and thus every board you build, makes the next one better.

We're making it open source because team context should be inspectable and portable.

The repo is Apache 2.0, workspaces are backed by Markdown/YAML files, and it can run locally with Postgres, Redis, Yjs, and Docker.

I love to use it for putting together launches (like in the video), doing product discovery, putting together inspiration for my new product and letting Kanwas generate specs but also for interactive dashboards as it can hold iframes and local agent outputs.

Happy to hear any feedback!
