I’m planning to climb Cotopaxi this September. I’m a 26M from the Midwest with little mountain experience outside a few trips out west, but I’m in good shape and rock climb several times a week. I’ll arrive 6 days early and plan to do a few acclimatization hikes/climbs beforehand.

A few questions:
-How tough is the altitude on Cotopaxi for someone with limited high-altitude experience?
-Is 6 days enough time to acclimate?
-Which nearby peaks are best for acclimatization before attempting Cotopaxi?
-Any other tips to improve my chances of a successful summit?
-Should I book guides/logistics in advance or wait until I arrive? I’m traveling solo and want to avoid both sold-out spots and overpaying.
