What happened to quieter cars?
I recall quieter cars with better soundproofing being part of the new fleet. I recall experiencing that for a while and it was really nice.
For some time now, most rides this year, it seems loud af again. Is it just me? Am I getting older? Is the soundproofing wearing off?
The shrieking tracks are really unpleasant.

18 months to 1400!
I can't really hold this rating yet, but 1400 was my goal in January 2025! Started around 950. I spent about $1k on in-person classes. Started playing online a year ago. 700+ Lichess puzzles and 700+ games. Half of one chess book.
1400 was my goal because I thought that would mean I am no longer a beginner. Would you agree?
Am I good enough to start learning openings? How do I do that?
Am I good enough to say I'm good at chess?
