Pool Heater Question
I've got a 16' x 48" Intex above ground. I recently bought one of the Aquastrong pool heaters that's 16,000 BTU/5,000 gallon rated. It "seemed" like it was helping a bit, but honestly the water feels the same temperature on the return. After reading some posts here, and discussing with their support it sounds like it's probably under-powered for a 5,500 gallon pool. The other issue is the sand filter. It pushes like 2,800 GPH, and the recommended flow is 454 GPH. I don't have the ability to adjust. They recommended a bypass valve and a larger heater. I don't want to blow up my pump, and I'm starting to think it's not worth it. Anyone have a similar experience or suggestions?
