Old tablet gift for a student
Hello!
I'm a 5th grade teacher and I'm leaving the profession, but I have some old materials including a 40$ digital art tablet.
I have one student who loves drawing, she's been a great student all year, and she genuinely reminds me a lot of myself as a kid, so we had a good student relationship. She's leaving the school as well for a school that can better support her GT needs and her family has been incredibly supportive.
I'm packing up my classroom and this tablet is probably going to be donated to a GoodWill or something, because it doesn't work with student Chromebooks and I bought it with my money.
Would it be appropriate to ask her guardians if I could give it to her as a goodbye gift? I think it would be nice as she has shown interest in art as a career, but I could also see it crossing some boundaries.
Thanks for your thoughts on this
Edit: thanks for everyone's support and thoughts! I am messaging the parents now for their approval.
