How long left do i have on my clutch?
So, I’ve recently acquired my grandads car as my first car (2005 Ford Fiesta 1.4 manual, about 80,000 miles) after it had been sat in his garage and not driven since 2020. It’s passed it’s MOT, had 4 new tyres, new suspension and a service, but lately i think that the clutch is slipping. Sometimes there’s a squeak when i change gears, and if i’m trying to accelerate in like 3rd gear then the revs go really high but i dont go much faster, which is apparently the clutch slipping. I try to drive as best as i can but have accidentally over-revved it on some hill starts, and i imagine when my grandad was driving it he was not driving in a clutch friendly manner.
How much, on average, will a repair be, and how long do i have left before it needs a repair? I’m getting my first pay-check on Tuesday, and don’t really want car repairs to swallow up any more of it than the normal fuel and insurance has…
