Hi everyone, I'm running a study for my masters thesis to see what people actually value when they're shopping, is it how long something lasts, or just how it looks?

I've already looked at a 200+ posts across r/BuyItForLife and r/malefashionadvice to see what people say they like, but now I need real opinions to see if it’s true.

The Survey covers:

  • Durability: Do you care if your gear is repairable?
  • Style: Does brand status drive your choices?
  • The Pride Hit: Do you get more of a kick out of owning something for 10 years or unboxing something brand new?

The Details:

Thanks in advance!

Hey MFA,

I’m a Masters student researching how different online communities express their identity through the products they buy.

I’ve been looking at how this sub prioritizes fit, aesthetic appeal, and versatility compared to more utility-focused communities. I have a short survey (21 questions) designed to see if my analysis of MFA’s "culture of satisfaction" rings true to you. It would be a huge help if you could share your perspective!

I’d love to share the results and my findings with everyone here once the data is processed.
