Is This A Dumb Idea?

Is This A Dumb Idea?

The inevitable is coming. I'm going to eventually need dentures. The problem is.. I don't have any money. My only income is SSDI.

What I'm trying to do is figure out the cheapest way to get my remaining teeth yanked and then get some kind of denture. The dentures I want to try are these things in the picture. They're pretty cheap. I've seen them anywhere from $40 for a set, to $400. They are the type that you soak in hot water, then stick them in your mouth and gum down on them. I'm thinking that I can use cushion grip or some other similar product to get them to fit and hold better.

The standard that I'm seeing on here is: people get a full extraction then get a set of immediates, then get the more expensive custom made-to-fit ones? I'm thinking of just getting the extractions. I want to skip the immediates and the custom fit ones. Wait till my gums heal then try a set of these things (pic), preferably the $40 set first.

The other issue I'm having is: bruxism. I'm a night time clencher. I wear a tooth guard when I sleep. I bought one of those $4 sports guards at WMT and trimmed it down. It works fine. The guards that are made specifically for bruxism are like $30. – I'm wondering what my tooth clenching will be like if I have no teeth to clench down on. I have a feeling that it will probably cause jaw issues. I'm assuming that I would have to wear my dentures while I sleep, with a mouth guard.. in order to not damage the dentures and to prevent jaw problems. I might be able to Mickey Mouse something together though. Maybe a built up thicker mouthguard of some sort?

What do you guys think? The main issue here is money. I'm even considering doing the extractions myself. I probably won't be able to though. I might be able to get a couple out, but not all of them. I have 23 teeth left. I figure for every tooth I can get out.. it will save me $170 (per tooth extraction).
