I removed some planter blocks/bricks from around a couple of concrete slabs not realising they were acting a bit like a retaining wall. The soil below the slabs is now exposed. Is there a risk the soil gets eroded and the slab starts to crack? Are there any DIY options that can fix this? I'm in Queensland and would like to keep the budget under a few hundred dollars.

I've considered using some metal garden edging, maybe even create a little garden bed... Not sure what else would work but would like to avoid bricks again.
