Horror based one shots.

This October, I am running one shots for a convention. I want to do horror/halloween based games. Any ideas on horror movies that would make good one shots in 5e?

I already have a from dusk til dawn and the thing one shots ready to go.

How to properly tell one of my players character doesn't work?

Not quite a horror story but I started a campaign with a some people a few months ago. 5 players and myself dming. I knew 3 of the players beforehand. We will name them S,D,R,T and N. Before the campaign started I let everyone know it would be 2014 5e rules with be open to homebrew rules. Everyone got to making characters. R told me he wanted to be a class from pathfinder but would spec it to dnd 5e, while I wasn't sure what that would really looked like I said "sure, if it works" and that's what this post is about. It doesn't work. The pcs are currently level 4 and R's character is dealing 40 plus damage on attacks, can reach a melee attack up to 65 ft. Last session was a bit of an experiment to see how unbalanced R's character really was. I made 2 creatures that were 240 hp each. Long combat short, 2 characters died, 2 characters were revived and barely survived. R's character was barely touched and was able to take on both creatures on his own. I feel like it's a level 4 character with level 12 abilities and feels like he is playing with cheat codes on. I could tell S,D,N and T were not too thrilled. So this where I ask others with experience of players. I asked R if he was willing to retool his character to a class in the dnd players handbook. It's not working, I feel like I should have said no in the first place. I'm even willing to take some abilities from the pathfinder class but it needs to be balanced. Everyone thinks I was out of line to ask him to do that. Was I? What are other alternatives. As of right now I feel like I lost my group of players.
