Did anyone else watched Adult Swim way too young and remember seeing this?

The music here brings back memories. I know I should’ve been asleep when it came on but I had to sneak out of my room just to watch some Futurama and Family Guy and some of the anime too. This was when Aduit Swim was in its prime imo.

Was anyone into Twilight around 2008-2012?

I remember the craze being so unreal at times especially for tweens and teenagers around that time. It was damn near inescapable. This was when the Harry Potter craze was winding down and got replaced by Twilight.

I’m not sure if it fits in here but does anyone have the vaguest memory of seeing this somewhere?

This was the Nokia N-Gage. I never used one but I remember seeing them from those catalogs from the Sunday newspaper and I thought these were really cool at the time. I was too young to really experience them. They were discontinued in 2006.

What was your first desktop OS you used?

My first OS was Windows 2000 in schools since we were behind when it came to operating systems was using it interchangeably with XP as that’s what I was using at home and that was the one that was used throughout my childhood. What about you guys?

Did you guys grow up learning cursive?

I’m sure we were among the last group to have learned cursive before they got rid of it all together by 2011 which was when it got replaced by common core standards which was adopted by 41 states. You typically learn cursive around 3rd grade typically also at least from what I’ve heard.

How are your computer skills?

It’s been said that Gen Z overall are tech illiterate, but most of Older Gen Z were teenagers or even about to be teenagers when smartphones and tablets were blowing up around 2012-2014. So that’s already a lot of time to have navigated through a computer. We were taught how to type and to even use a computer in school while others learned on their own. We were told to also learn how to navigate the file system, but it’s been told that people younger than us don’t even know how to navigate it. Same with having to say rotate a PDF file or to even export a file and using Microsoft Office and remembering to hit “save as” the first time around and having to rename your document, then having to save your work every time you’re using it. There’s more that I can bring up but that’s just the gist of it.

Personally for me, I’m no IT wizard, but I would say my skills are pretty much in the above average category. I have experience with using a computer for about 20 years now and I have experience with coding (python, C++), and have a very good understanding of using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)

Remember using CRT monitors?

They still had them till about maybe the late 2000s in computer labs. I know 2002-2008 was the sweet spot between LCDs and CRT monitors.

Memory unlocked. Does anyone remember seeing people with these Livestrong bracelets in the mid 2000s?

I had a neighbor who was about 5 years older than me and he always had the Livestrong bracelet. I remember them also giving them out at some point around Summer 2007ish when people from Nike came to my nearby park. I think this was like a 2004-2007 thing.

When did you get your first phone? What was it able to do?

I got my first phone for my 12th birthday which was a Samsung S390G and had it until I was 13 which was when I got my first smartphone. It only was able to text and make calls. I was able to play some Java powered games on there. I was able to customize my own ringtones and was able to use Facebook on there, but that’s honestly about it. It wasn’t unlimited so you had to be careful with going on the internet and things like that. What about you guys?

CN City book (visitor’s guide) from 2006

I found this somewhere and thought this was cool. Does anyone recognize a lot of the things here because a lot of us including myself was watching Cartoon Network around this time. And I mean a lot.

Does anyone remember watching Whose Line is it Anyway as a kid?

I remember watching this on ABC Family which is now considered Freeform with my parents. I watched whatever they watched back then. I thought this show was fun.

Does anyone remember Hurricane Katrina?

I know it’s not as big as 9/11 but it’s among one of the biggest natural disasters of the 2000s. I remember watching nothing but continuous coverage of it for days on end when it happened.
