Is anyone here based in Asia and in an online screenwriting group? If not, would you like to start one.

By Asia, I mean anywhere between India and Japan, including Australia and most of Russia. As long as communication is in English. It's cool.

Myself, I'm based in Taiwan and I have joined a couple of L.A. based screenwriting groups before. Both were genuinely great and my writing has improved massively as a result, but timezone differences kept getting in the way.

So, if anyone reading this is in a group, I'd love to join. If you don't have one, and you'd like to be in one, maybe we could start it.

So I’ve been writing since 2020 and I’m definitely progressing but I’ve hit a block. I’m starting on an idea where the protagonist is a clairvoyant who uses weed to block out visions of ghosts and the antagonist is a ‘ghost bride’ (a Chinese ghost who latches onto a mortal in marriage).

The problem is most people I talk to about this see it as a comedy, and I get where they are coming from but I haven't written comedy before, and I'm not sure how to. I stick to the horror/ thriller genre and I’m getting pretty good at it.

That said, I’m not against trying different genres and feel I should give it a try.

Another problem is I’m not a big fan of comedy films: I love live stand up comedy but struggle to laugh at most film comedies I watch. 

So what I’m asking is, what tips do comedy writers here have for writing comedy? When you started out, what did you find hardest, what lessons did you learn and how did you make your scripts funny? If you’ve written multiple genres, what are the biggest differences/ challenges specifically with comedy?
