A tree crushed our cars and we need help

Short version: A storm came through Georgia a couple weeks back and the winds were bad enough to take out a tree which flattened both me and my wife’s cars. We have a toddler who needs to get to day care and we both need to get to our jobs.

We love our jobs but we don’t get paid enough. We’ve been paycheck to paycheck for a while, which has been fine because we love our work. But after running the numbers I realized we are kinda hosed no matter what route we take to try and fix this.

If we buy a beater we get to survive a few months but when they break down we’ll have spent all the cash we had for a car.

If we buy something reliable and finance then we’re out of money in like 2 months.

If we move somewhere cheaper the cost of the move plus the new commute also puts us out of money.

Even a dollar would be more than we have. Thanks for considering us.

I started a gofundme if you’d like details and I have tons of photos and videos for proof.

Lightning or Rot?

Hey guys, a tree got blown over in a storm last night and crushed both me and my wife’s cars. A lightning strike would cost X and tree rot would cost Y. I need to know what I’m looking at to see how to best fight with my landlords who are acting predictably nonchalant about the situation.
