I already have a mac studio m1 max 32 gb ram. But wanted to used a machine for local llm not sure how I will use it but wanted to get everyones thoughts both on price and also usability for llm.
I Want to use this for local agent development and testing etc.
I keep running into issue with hermes agent against a small local model.
my setup
machine a - mac mini mi 8gb ram - This has the hermes agent
machine b - mac mini m4 16 gb ram - This has qwen 3 8b 6 bit and a small draft model which take around 1 gb ram
os has been tune to make mac 16 gb ram headless and removed all unnecessary ram
But still hermes agent always fails
Does this mean I cannot use any local model with the hermes agent.
what is best option for me to acquire a mac mini m series 32/64 gb ram.
Any m series is fine. what should I expect the price should be and what is a reasonable price. Not really looking for new, used is fine. I want to use it for local models.
