I’ve been rowing for a few years but have always been a little under the weight I wanted to be (6’2 170 rn 20M). My hometown club this summer is 6 morning practices OTW and then a supplemental land workout split between 2 ergs 3 lifts.
This is the most intensive regiment I will have done and I wanted input on if it would be a good idea to just start shoveling food in. Obviously i wouldn’t be drinking ice cream fat mac style but just getting in as much food as possible to gain weight and not really studying macros. Ideally I’d want to be 185 like lean and with muscle eventually. So my question is
Do I just eat as much as I can to put on as much weight this summer and then reassess or would it be smarter to calorie count and work in a small surplus?

I’ve been working in the double for the past few days as stroke getting ready to race in a couple weeks. We’re fairing pretty well at lower rates but high rates have been an issue point. Once we get up to 30-32 it falls apart and feels difficult to rate any higher. At these rates too my catch swaps to chopping it in more instead of scooping in. Any tips for how to work on this?
So my coach just recently gave me and a buddy the offer to row a pair for ACRAs in a few weeks and basically said we can design our workouts for these next few weeks. We’ve both been pair partners for a while now but neither of us has been in the 2- before. Any ideas for a quick 3 week program to get us ready?
I'm a sophomore club collegiate rower, 6'2" 175 lbs, and I've been doing this sport for 4 years. Over that time my peers have all gotten much faster than me and it feels like I'm making no progress. My 2k has developed year by year from 7:20 → 7:05 → 6:59 → 6:56 → 6:55, whereas everyone around me has made strides forward much more quickly. I've been doing daily practice 5-6 days a week in season, with 1-2 extra afternoon cardio sessions per week. I don't lift, but I can't imagine that's the definitive reason I'm not seeing any notable improvement. Is there something I could be doing wrong at this point?
