Hi guys,
We recently got a R.G. Hardie from around 1970 gifted to our band. It's been hanging on the donors wall for most of the time until now. The previous owner was a very decent musician in a Mandoline Orchestra. After he passed away, his wife gifted the set to us.
Clearly some cleaning was needed after all that time. I've also started oiling it. I used Lemon Oil, such as I use for my guitar's fretboard. I've read one article on Reddit in which they stated that Blackwood is a Rosewood family, and that it should be alright.
I've got them oiled down once now. I'm planning on doing another oil run. Should I?
What are your experiences with oiling the pipes? Does specific oil really make any difference?
