After season 18 I thought the good producing and casting was gone at world of wonder but I can’t help but look optimistically to the coming all stars 11 episodes.

This orange group was so much fun, amazing challenges and runways, great guest judges and a great cast with so many interpersonal dynamics. Not to compare to the bore of season 18 but this three episode bracket alone hat so many dynamics, fun drama and touching friendships, that ended up actually mattering for the competition:

Dawn and morphine friendship
Akeria and Morgan friendship
Mystique and Morgan vying for mother of the group
Mystique hating dawn and morphine
Everyone loving akeria
Lucky and mystique friendship that ended in enemy ship

I know the bracket format is not loved especially this time where only two queens advance but I genuinely think it has many benefits especially with the points that actually give the queens who might not excel that well in the challenges a change to meaningfully influence the game.
So far we have four brackets in total to judge this format and in my opinion three out of those have made amazing tv, the only exception being purple from all stars 10, so I would say overall it makes for pretty good tv.

The criticism of this bracket I’ve seen is the disappointment with mystique, people saying her drag was underwhelming and her presence pointless. I wholeheartedly disagree, her tights might not match but honestly her strict aunty behavior and totally indecipherable strategy was iconic. It shows that some of you take the challenges too serious and forget that it’s a reality show. Mystique had a new antic everytime she stepped onto that set and I appreciate her so much.

The other criticism was that “they played in morphines face”. To some extent I agree she could have won the first challenge but she was not doing very good in the other challenges. She had a good runway this week but that does not justify her winning…
Maybe the one bad judging was that dawn won this lipsync today???

Watching the first two episodes of As 11 was pretty amazing I would say. The caliber of drag is truly all stars worthy, there were instantly funny and dramatic dynamics between the queens in the werkroom, and fun challenges … also Latoya Jackson!!!

But honestly the most astonishing thing for me was mother’s attitude. She made actual funny and unexpected jokes, banter with the queens, she just felt much more present.
That all could just be good producing and editing or the presence of Latoya, but my theory would be that she just felt at ease with the cast and knew that the content of the episode would be secure and up to her standard.

Noticeably she did not act that way during season 18 which was filmed closely to this. She had high praises for mykie and Jane, laughed at the discord walk and lots of comments about how Darlene is “stupid”but the banter and ru signature ironic jokes were not there.
And these examples were honestly the only ones I could think of over an entire season.

Tell me, did you also notice the shift in mother’s demeanor?
And do you think that can be attributed to season 18’s (how can I say this diplomatically?) lack of …?
