New dachshund owner warning

This is a warning to all new dachshund owners. This face will happen anytime you have food. This is to lull you as this is only stage one of wanting your food (mogwai stage). Escalation will happen...gremlining WILL happen.

Far in the future advise

In the far distant future, my wife and I are considering getting a second dachshund. We feel bad that our boy has to sit bored at home while we're away at work (it's only 3 days a week and I visit him at lunch). We want to add an adopty as the plan has always been to get one from a puppy and rescue a second.

The problem is our boy has some stranger danger anxiety issues. We're working with a behaviorist for that. He's had minimal interactions with other dogs as...honestly...he can be a jerk when meeting other dogs. He's excited to meet but once he's close he starts yelling obscenities.

What ways have any of you that have done a similar process gone about warming them up? How do you deal with the only-pup syndrome?

Extra info - Over a year and a half. Neutered at 1 year. Barely in the tweenie territory.

Snoofer enrichment

Some treats are scattered throughout the pit. We figured this may be a good idea for anyone who needs some enrichment ideas!
